Leg Ulcers

Mr. Kong, aged 60, had got a wound of size 3.4cm² over his right leg after an accident and which was expected to close within weeks' time. However it remained for 3 years and it became stagnant for over last 18 months with slough and biofilm coating at his first visit to Nu Pro Nurse Centre.

Wound debridement was performed. Advanced dressing and equipment were used to control and prevent infection and to provide optimal environment for wound healing. Natrox topical oxygen therapy was prescribed later to further enhance wound healing.

In first two weeks of treatment, wound exudate increased significantly due to the reactivation of  cells from the wound area in response to Natrox topical oxygen therapy. Vascularity of wound bed improved with significant reduction in bioburden and wound size in week 3. Wound progressed steadily and finally healed up in 11 weeks with good quality of periwound skin.
