A 21-year-old male presented with skin carcinoma on right occiptal area of his head. He underwent resection and closure of the defect with application of skin graft taken from the thigh. The wound was initially covered by a thick layer of yellowish slough & biofilm, with dry & scaling surrounding skin. After one month of conventional treatment, the wound condition continued to deteriorate. In light of this, re-operation for a skin graft was planned.
He consulted Nu Pro Nurse Centre for alternative treatment. Advanced dressings with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy and Bioptron Light Therapy were applied for aggressive management of this case. The progress was encouraging.
Finally, the wound healed up within 6 weeks without the need for a second skin graft operation.
